Sidra Menendez has a plantation of 12 hectares. It has different varieties of apples qualified for the Protected Designation of Origin Sidra de Asturias. His harvest is destined for the production of cider Val d'ornon.

This name refers to the winery that is located in Fano (Asturias) inside of Valdornon's valley. The landscape is full of apple trees which will give this winery that differential point in terms of aroma and flavor.

For the preparation of this cider is performed a selection of some of the 22 varieties permitted by the Regulatory Council (Raxao, Regona, Perico, Carrio) seeking a balance between those that are acidic, bitter and sweet. The fermentation takes place in chestnut wooden casks.

The "escanciado" (way to serve the cider that consist in to lift the bottle with a hand over our head and poured into a glass caught with the other hand) will give the final touch of quality to the product, reaffirming the qualities of cider. Before "escanciado" is recommended spin the bottle, stirring its contents, in order to activate its natural endogenous carbon and dilute the sediments, result of an exempt preparation of filtrates.

Cider is a drink very well known outside Spain. In the latest edition of "Day of Spanish wine in Mexico" held on Sunday October 3, Sea Port made a presentation and tasting cider Val d'Ornon. For this we have the help of a expert "escanciador" who helped the guests to know the proper way to serve this extraordinary product and appreciate all its qualities.
