Designation of Origin "Ribera del Duero"
Includes vineyards located in Castilla y León within an area of the Duero River with about 115 kilometers long and 35 wide, situated at the confluence of the provinces of Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid. It covers an area of 20,956 hectares of vineyards.
The climate of the Ribera del Duero is characterized by a moderately low rainfall with dry summers (40 ° C) and long cold winters (-18 ° C) and with large fluctuations in temperature in all the seasons. All this conditions provide to this area a Mediterranean climate with over 2,400 hours of sunshine.
The wines of the Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero are mainly red wines, but there are also rosé wines. The most characteristic grape variety generically called "Tinta País" is known in the world of wine as Tempranillo and constitutes 90% of the production. For a wine to can be included in the Designation of Origin, should include at least 75% of Tempranillo in its preparation. Other varieties could be Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec. The Garnacha grapes and Albillo are allowed, but in small quantities.
The elaboration of the wines is made under the strictest controls, both fermentation with controlled temperature and conservation.
The winery has modern stainless steel tanks and the application of the most modern systems of filtration and cold stabilization, which give their wines a level of very high quality and prestige.
Perhaps most difficult of making in a great wine is their aging, so we have to carefully select the oak barrels in which wine rests for a long time.
